Sri Sarada Devi Ashram
Humanitarian Activities
Through the kind and generous support of devotees and well-wishers, the Ashram donates groceries and other essentials to indigent families in the greater Durban area, including Asherville, Sydenham, Umzinto, Clare Estate, Overport, Reservoir Hills. We also proffer assistance to the following Homes, Schools and Informal Settlements:
Nagari Pracharini; Springfield Hindu Primary; Collegevale Primary; Clayton Primary; Centenary Secondary; Overport SRS; Settlers Primary; Daydawn Training Centre; Happy Hours for the Mentally Challenged; Kerr House for Women; Clayton Garden Home for the Aged, Durban Council for SA Women; Cheshire Scidifa Homes; Clare Estate Senior Citizens; lnzenzo Health Care Centre; Kennedy Road & Malagazi Informal Settlements.
The following assistance is proffered:
• During the school semester, bread, jam and peanut butter are donated twice a week to Collegevale Primary School.
• Warm pyjamas and T shirts are donated.
• Fresh vegetables are donated to families each week.
• Over a hundred patients are fed each week at Inzenzo Homes.
• Grocery hampers to the value of R250.00 are distributed to Schools, Homes and indigent families each month.
• 475 Diwali hampers to the value of R 250.00 are donated
• 675 students are fed each year at the Nagari Pracharini School.
• School fees, stationery, uniforms, shoes and school bags are donated to pupils.
• Bursaries are awarded to students for tertiary education.
• Over 250 blankets are donated to indigent families each year.
• Occupational Therapy is offered to patients each week.
